Saratoga Officer on a 10-Week Mission to Raise Support for Blood Cancer Patients

Saratoga Springs (April 2026) — What happens when a local police officer takes on a 10-week fundraising mission outside of her day job—and turns the entire community into part of the effort?

Lieutenant Angela McGovern of the Saratoga Springs Police Department is stepping into the Visionary of the Year campaign with Blood Cancer United. While balancing her full-time role in law enforcement, she is organizing community events, building partnerships, and rallying support to help local families affected by blood cancer.

From creative fundraisers to strong community collaborations, her 10-week mission has brought together businesses, friends, and neighbors across the Capital Region. Angela also reflects on her personal connection to the cause, the importance of commitment, and what it means to follow through once you set a goal: “I set this goal, and I need to meet it or exceed it. I gave my word, and I need to do it the best that I can.”
