Grief Untold: A Mother’s Intimate Conversations Shared in “A Place of YES”

SARATOGA SPRINGS-BASED NONPROFIT JAKE’S HELP FROM HEAVEN TO LAUNCH PODCAST

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (February 20, 2024) – Bright Sighted Podcasting today announced the upcoming launch of its newest podcast, “A Place of Yes.” The podcast will launch in conjunction with Saratoga Springs-based nonprofit Jake’s Help from Heaven with the goal of helping listeners learn how to channel their grief for good.

Jake’s Help from Heaven was established in 2011 by Heather Straughter following the sudden death of her 4-year-old son Jake. Thirteen years after his death, Straughter is opening up about how the only way she could move forward was by focusing her grief to find what she dubbed “a place of yes.”

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our podcast, ‘A Place of Yes,’” said Straughter. “We are living every day with the fact that our son died, that our son who was supposed to be alive is not. There’s no easy way around that. There’s no time heal all wounds. That’s not true. You have to make the choice that you are going to find the good, you are going to provide the good.”

“We’re looking forward to helping our listeners learn how to channel their own grief into something positive, as well as show the community the good we have been able to do in Jake’s name.”

“It has been an honor to work on this podcast with Heather and Jake’s Help from Heaven,” said Bright Sighted Media Founder Christine O’Donnell. “Producing and listening to this podcast has helped start to move through my personal grief and I have been deeply moved by the interviews Heather has done. We believe ‘A Place of Yes’ will have a profound impact on its listeners and help them to process their own grief in a way that feels good.”

Jake’s Help from Heaven creates opportunities for individuals with complex medical needs and disabilities to help them thrive. Its goal is to improve the quality of life for those suffering from lifelong, debilitating illnesses due to congenital or childhood-onset diseases by offering assistance that includes providing grants and financial aid,

purchasing medically necessary equipment, and delivering life-enhancing goods and services directly to those in need.

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 29, “A Place of Yes” will release weekly episodes showcasing the good that has been done by the nonprofit in the 13 years since Jake’s death. Each week, Straughter will welcome onto the show mothers who have experienced grief and joy similar to her own; children who have been helped by Jake through the nonprofit; and individuals who have helped bring joy to families through Jake’s Help from Heaven.

Also on Feb. 29, Jake’s Help from Heaven and Bright Sighted Podcasting will celebrate the launch of “A Place of Yes” with a party at Saratoga Strike Zone in Saratoga Springs. The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Guests who arrive by 5:15 p.m. will be able to participate in a toast to Jake.

“A Place of Yes” will be available to stream on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and everywhere you listen to podcasts.
