The Woman Behind Sherlock Holmes’s Return

THE GOOD STUFF BY BRIGHT SIGHTED POSTS NEW EPISODE

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (January 26, 2026) — Bright Sighted Media has posted a new episode of The Good Stuff, featuring Mary Jane Hansen, Artistic Director of iTheatre Saratoga and a longtime Saratoga Arts grant recipient.

Hosted by Spencer Sherry of Saratoga Arts, the episode spotlights Hansen’s 15-year tenure at iTheatre Saratoga and her newest original work, The Baker Street Adventuress: Sherlock Holmes on the Air, diving into the early days of radio and the forgotten story of the woman who helped bring Sherlock Holmes back to American audiences in the 1930s.

Hansen also shares how support from a Saratoga Arts regrant helped fund the research behind the project, opening the door to archival work and a deeper understanding of how early broadcast media shaped culture. She reflects on why creating original work locally continues to matter and how collaboration helps keep stories like this alive.

The Good Stuff features weekly uploads spotlighting nominated members of the community whose work strengthens the region through creativity, service, and connection. The series was created to share local stories in a way that feels accessible and positive, offering space for real conversations and highlighting the people doing meaningful work right here at home. The podcast is sponsored by Girls Inc. of the Capital Region.

Listen or watch to hear how one artist’s curiosity turned into a production rooted in history and community.
